Brunch & Books:

Book lovers and writers in and near the River Valley came to a community potluck and book exchange on Sunday, March 11 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Green Library Community room. In addition to good food, participants were treated to readings of featured books for LitFest 2007. The names of the three acclaimed authors participating in the tenth annual Spring Green Literary Festival were officially announced, their books were on display, and a set of three were given away to a lucky participant. Excerpts from the authors books were read by actors Sarah Day and Paul Bentzen of the American Players Theater, and David Giffey, editor of the Spring Green Home News. Sarah has been a volunteer board member of the Spring Green Literary Festival since its founding.

The 2006 Spring Green Literary Festival Canoe Raffle:

In late 2005, David and Eileen Roeder, owners of Tranquility Canoes gracefully consented to give the Spring Green Literary Festival one of their Serenity canoes to raffle.

Between April and October 2006, members of the Spring Green Literary Festival board of directors sold over $5,000 worth of tickets, through rain, heat, and cold. On October 22, 2006, the canoe, Serenity #42, was awarded to Ruth Venable from Beloit, Wisconsin. She purchased her winning ticket at the Spring Green Arts and Crafts Fair in June.

The Spring Green Literary Festival Board is deeply grateful to the makers of Tranquility Canoes for their generosity in donating this beautiful, functional work of art. With the proceeds, the board can continue to attract the best authors and poets to the annual literary festival.
